-
Mark Taylor
Also known as:
Mr T
What was life like before Warriors?
A long, long history of reenactment and an interest in armour led to making my first pieces from baked bean tins in my back garden, one thing led to another and the Warwick Warriors was born!
What’s your favourite Warriors memory?
There’s far too many to count, we have had a LOT of fun over the years. You probably had to be there but one memory that never fails to raise a smile was 2012, Warwick warriors show in front of thousands of people. When Jay entered he used to have a loud BANG pyro to announce his arrival, the technician had found some unlabelled pyrotechnics and loaded in the largest sparkle fountain I’d ever seen, Jay marched in like a WWE wrestler with the most baffled expression!
What’s your Favourite Weapon?
Having years of experience making and performing with them all I’d be hard pressed to choose just one. I have a fondness for the Bardiche ‘The BIG AXE’ (though technically a glaive) which is a staple of many of our shows!
Interesting fact?
Whilst living a life full of weaponry and armour, I prefer life at home to be a little more zen and relaxed with my Koi carp which I keep in a 7 ft deep pool in my garden!
-
Jay
Also known as:
Sir James D'Ambrey
What was life like before warriors?
Life before Was a blur of acting jobs, from scare attractions in Montreal and Malaysia to pantomime around the country, becoming a knight was never on my mind until a chance meeting with Mark all the way back in 2010!
What’s your favourite Warriors memory?
Impossible to choose a favourite, theres just so many! From being a pirate, highwayman, princess (don't ask) master of ceremonies and ghostly knight to running out onto a rugby pitch to provide entertainment to 18000 people. Though one of my stand out moments would be the first day of tournament completing and seeing our vision come to life!
Whats your favourite weapon?
Has to be the Polehammer, I absolutely adore the balance between mobility and power. Using one is so much fun!
Interesting fact?
I'm a huge fan of trying new things, even if just for a bit. It has lead me from scuba diving in the Cayman Islands to jumping from a plane nearly 20 times!
-
Philip
Also known as:
Sir William Baxter
What was life like before Warriors?
Spending few years both on and off stage as an actor and a technician I found myself working at Warwick Castle where I trained as a trebuchet master before joining the Warriors as the third longest standing member of the team!
What’s your favourite Warriors memory?
I’m sure we will all say there’s too many to choose, there really is! One stand out for me is the first time we ran out onto the pitch to provide halftime entertainment for the Wasps rugby team or maybe our first tournament at Cardiff Castle! I really can’t choose.
What’s your Favourite Weapon?
Warhammer, no, mace, no, great sword… it’s hard to choose! ok maybe the great sword, its an inch taller than me!
Interesting fact?
I think people find interesting the fact that I used to do gymnastics and ballet when I was younger, can still cartwheel even! Oh, and I live on a boat!
-
Sam
Also known as:
Sir Joseph Cawdor
What was life like before Warriors:
I met the warriors at Warwick Castle, back in 2014 watching our namesake show 'The Warwick Warriors', saying to myself, I'm going to be doing that one day. Must have been a calling!
What’s your favourite Warriors memory?
Other than making incredibly memories with our guests across all the sites we've been fortunate to perform in, my fondest moment was bringing our Knights Tournament to Dover Castle. As its local to where I grew up and getting to perform in front of friends and family was a huge honour.
What's your favourite weapon?
The Hand-a-Half Sword. In my opinion, it is the best weapon a knight could use. It's versatile, deadly and incredibly technical. Swordplay in the 15th Century is another reason for me to love this elegant weapon! Studying the old manuscripts for our choreography is where the fun really begins!
Interesting fact?
I'm from a small army of a family, one of nine and not many people know but I have drafted two of my nephews as squires for our tourneys, and both in the same event at one point. We all had a lot of fun on that one. It was a pretty cool moment.

Chris
Also known as:
Sir Guy De Mowbray
What was life like before Warriors?
It Wasn’t as exciting! Since becoming a warrior I’ve visited some amazing places and I now sped a lot of time cleaning. and polishing my armour!
What’s your favourite Warriors memory?
There are quite a few, but my favourite would have to be having apples chopped out of my hands with a sharp sword for the first time by one of my colleagues!
What’s your Favourite Weapon?
I’m generally fascinated by swords and polearms. Particularly, the different styles and functionality of those weapons attributed to different cultures throughout the Middle Ages
Interesting fact?
As well as a love for weapons I am also interested in weird and wonderful musical instruments.
-
Kelly
Also known as:
Lady Kelly
What was life like before Warriors?
It certainly was a lot less exciting! Not many people can say they are a professional fighting knight!
What’s your favourite Warriors memory?
A few of us once did a fighting knights event in The Shard in London! It was very surreal being thirty something floors up fighting in front of the most spectacular views over London! It was a fab experience!
What’s your Favourite Weapon?
Definitely the Bardiche! It’s great fun to fight with a weapon that is bigger than I am! Plus it’s big and scary which I definitely am not!
Interesting fact?
I won a Hula Hooping competition when I was 10… No idea where that skill has gone now though!
-
James
Also known as:
Sir Robert De Ballon
What was life like before Warriors?
Before Warwick Warriors I was working as an actor in touring theatre as well as such great locations as Warwick Castle and Shakespeares birthplace.
What’s your favourite Warriors memory?
Not actually as knight like you’d expect but as a squire. I was squiring for Jay at a knights tournament and he had been horrible to me all day (I think he was acting but…..?) and in the final round I crossed the field to team up with everyone else to fight against him 7vs1 it got a ridiculously good reaction from the crowd!
What’s your Favourite Weapon?
It’s easily the Warhammer! They’re just fantastic….. Horrible, but fantastic!
Interesting fact?
No-one actually calls me James, everyone calls me Pickle, and I always get asked why, now I can just direct them here! But basically… it’s tenuous! Some of the actors I worked with at Warwick Castle decided that my surname rhymes with ‘Branston’ - it doesn't. At all. But that’s why I’ve been lumbered with it the last decade!
-
Liz
Also known as:
Lady Isabella Holland
What was life like before Warriors?
Coming back after the pandemic I was unsure about treading the waters of freelancing again, but needless to say I am glad I took the leap! After roughly 3 years so far with the Warriors I’ve travelled the country, visited some of the most beautiful heritage sites and made some very lovely friends along the way.
What’s your favourite Warriors memory?
Getting to be the first of the female Warwick Warriors to take part in our knights tournament. the whole experience has been amazing, but for me it’s always the people that make it. There’s such huge trust in the team and in the way audience engage with us is incredible!
What’s your Favourite Weapon?
I love an axe or a war hammer - heavy hitters and very satisfying to wield! Though I have a special place in my heart for a longbow!
Interesting fact?
Fighting isn’t the only high risk thing I enjoy doing, i’ve previously done body burning, fire breathing and fire eating, so I get to be a dragon AND a knight!
-
Dean
Also known as:
Sir Edward Pattinson
What was life like before warriors?
As I chased the dream of becoming an actor and working in London I never imagined myself becoming a knight. Though a chance meeting at Warwick Castle changed that and before I knew it, here I was!
Whats your favourite Warriors memory?
During the 2024 tournament season there was a point where everything clicked, I had been struggling to get my head around Battle of the Barriers but one day it all just worked and I won, in front of a audience of friends and family too! It felt incredible!
Whats your favourite weapon?
I love a good single handed arming sword, such a fun weapon to fight with, and I really enjoy being able to spin them around and do tricks with!
Interesting fact?
Most people would say my music background playing in many bands but to me I’d say its my ability to recite about an hour of ‘The Chamber of Secrets’
-
Jacob
Also known as:
Sir Adrian Huetson
What was life like before Warriors?
I always wanted to be a performer and after graduating university I was lucky enough to start working straight away, always trying to hone my skills and focus on learning more. In late 2023 I was lucky enough to join warriors and I’ve loved every minute!
What's your favourite Warriors memory?
I have two! Winning my first ever tournament at Bishops Palace was amazing. However, going out onto the tournament field at Kenilworth castle and looking out to see my friends and family waving my flag was incredible! It was a tough day fighting but this gave me the boost I needed!
What’s your favourite weapon?
I love the versatility of the hand and a half sword, being fast and agile yet strong and powerful! That and I looks fantastic too, long and elegant but also imposing!
Interesting fact?
I enjoy a challenge and I’m constantly trying to find new ways to test my limits, the last time I did I completed the three peaks challenge in 22 hours and 57 minutes!
-
Vicky
Also known as:
Lady Victoria
What was life like before Warriors?
Fewer bruises and my knees were a lot more stable that’s for sure.. But life was no where near as fun!
What your favourite Warriors memory?
How do I choose? From total silliness of the Easter escapades at Kenilworth castle, to being a ridiculously dressed Landsknecht mercenary at Warwick to compering the knights tournament at Bishops palace to festive larks and lovely summers at the knights village! Every job is a fun memory with amazing people!
What's your favourite weapon?
To look at? The Bardiche, to use? The Greatsword!
Interesting fact?
I’m a professional singer, my voice has featured in live and recorded projects for stage, television and events all over the world! I did a French degree too, the change to acting often baffles people!
